Counter Height Stools:
- Standard Counter Height: 36 inches (91 cm)
- Recommended Barstool Height: 24 to 26 inches (61 to 66 cm)
- Counter height barstools are designed for counters around 36 inches high. Opt for stools with a seat height of 24 to 26 inches, measured from the floor to the top of the seat.
Bar Height Stools:
- Standard Bar Height: 42 inches (107 cm)
- Recommended Barstool Height: 28 to 30 inches (71 to 76 cm)
- Bar height barstools are suitable for bars or countertops around 42 inches high. Choose stools with a seat height of 28 to 30 inches.
Extra Tall/Custom Countertop or Bar:
- For taller custom bars or countertops, you may need extra-tall barstools.
- Recommended Barstool Height: 33 to 36 inches (84 to 91 cm) or higher, depending on the height of the surface.
- These stools are less common and may need to be specially ordered.
When measuring the seat height of a barstool, it’s essential to measure from the floor to the top of the seat, not the overall height of the entire stool.
